The final Clinic of the Cycling Academy Training Clinic series that puts the "icing on the fitness cake" is THE SPEED AND POWER CLINIC.
After 9 weeks of long climbs and roller riding, the program changes to high-power output, short work bouts, and rest periods. The focus for the next 6 weeks is on higher-than-normal effort, elevated heart rates and short speed and sprint bouts, interspersed with numerous rest intervals--all done on the Monark ergometer and wind trainer.
30 - 35 Minute Ride on the Monark Stationary Ergometer
Improves aerobic capactiy, lung function, leg strength, climbing power, flat speed, and recovery.
30 - 35 Minute Ride with your bike on the Wind Trainer
Improves leg power, leg speed, leg strength, lung efficiency and power, aerobic power, heart function, road speed, and recovery.
This class can also help you to lose weight (fat), burn calories directly, increase metabolism, and improve your general fitness, health, confidence and your quality of life (not to mention your love life).
This is interval training at its very best. And the outcome will be a superior cyclist who can cruise at a faster speed with less effort, jump out of the saddle to catch and roll by other riders, while recovering quickly to be ready for the next (effortless) challenge.
Look original, Look KEO, Shimano SPD or Shimano Road SL compatible shoes/cleats are required.
All of these clinics are run by Robert Kahler who has been cycling for over 35 Years including being a California State Champion, was a National Coach for 6 Years, and has a Masters of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology.

12 Hour Indoor Cycling Team Challenge
Saturday, December 8th, 2012
5:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M.
12 Hours
3 Riders per Team
2 Monarks
Highest overall workrate
Checkout this awesome Breathless Ergometer Flier
Teams of 3 Riders each will compete for the highest overall workrate over the 12 hours of Monark Ergometer riding.
Anyone of good character may enter the competition as part of a team of 3 riders, including at least 1 woman. Riders will reserve 2 ergometers to be used between the 3 riders during the event.
Two age group classifications to choose from:
1 - 50+ Average Age
2 - 60+ Average Age
The age qualification is based on the rider’s age as of December 31st, 2012. Riders must show ID to verify age.
A maximum of 12 teams will be able to compete. Team entry and ergometer selection will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
Regular registration will open on Saturday, October 22nd, and runs through November 24th, 2012. Late registration will be from November 26th through December 6th.
Regular entry fees will be $210.00 per team. Late entry fees after November 26th will be $270.00 per team. Fees must be paid in full by check or cash at the time of registration.
In the case where less than 6 teams have registered (or 3 in each group) for the event by December 1st, entry fees will be returned, cancelling the event.
Riders must be weighed in before the start of the competition. Start times will be staggered every 5 minutes at the beginning. Riders must ride 1 hour each and have 2 hours rest, rotating through all team members 4 times. A maximum 5 minute transition time will be allowed between riders on each team. An ergometer load must be pre-selected and fixed for each entire hour. The pedal speed – hence distance – can vary at the will of the rider. At the end of the hour, workrate will be calculated and posted. Important Note: A rider who misses the start of their scheduled ride will be penalized by their number of minutes late.
When each team’s rider has completed his/her respective ride, workrate will be posted. After each successive hour, workrates will be averaged and posted. Once the final hour is completed, all of the teams’ 4 calculated workrate averages will be averaged. The team with the highest overall average workrate will win.
Kahler Cycling Academy will provide support in the way of energy foods, fluids, energy supplements, and a variety of snacks for the riders. Upbeat music and videos will be on tap for motivation and entertainment. Riders may provide their own portable music with headphones if they wish. Teams must supply their own support personnel, if desired, other than their own team mates. The rear exterior patio is available for riders who wish to relax or rest in between rides. Riders must provide their own mats and/or blankets and may provide their own substantial food if desired.
Prizes and awards will be presented at the finish to the Teams with the highest average overall workrates. Recognition awards will be given for the teams. In addition, prizes will be given to the winning team in each age group.

Posi-Fit Cycling Position Analysis
When positioning a ride on a bicycle, it is the experience of the positioning administrator that is the single most important factor for success.
Robert Kahler has been involved in position analysis for 21 years. He has created his own Posi-Fit system and has positioned over 4000 riders for greater speed, power, and comfort.
With a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology and being a champion cyclist himself, Robert's knowledge is an essential component for your ultra-distance riding success -- or for any other type of cycling event you select.
